Prime Minister Modi reveals names of 4 Astronauts name for the Gaganyaan Mission
Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday announced the names of four astronauts who will fly to low Earth orbit as part of ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission which will be the first crewed Indian space mission by the Indian space research Organisation ( ISRO) . Prime minister Narendra Modi made the announcement at Vikram Sarabhai space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
The 4 names announced by Prime Minister Modi are, Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla .
Taking to his Social Media Account on X , PM Modi shared ” It was a very special moment for me to hand over wings to the four Indian astronaut-designates. They reflect the hopes, aspirations and optimism of 140 crore Indians. India is proud of Group Captain Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, Group Captain Ajit Krishnan, Group Captain Angad Pratap and Wing Commander Shubhanshu Shukla”
The human space flight mission by ISRO aims to launch a three-member crew into a Low Earth Orbit and bring them back in three days.
PM Modi at the event said, ” After 40 years, an Indian will go to space, but this time, the time is also ours, the countdown is also ours. In every nation’s progress, there comes a time when the present introduces its people to the future. Today is such a time for India. Our current generation is blessed because they are able to see success in water, on ground and even in space. This is the beginning of a new era, where India is increasing its space in the global order and it is very visible even in the space sector” .
The Gaganyaan Mission is India’s first human space flight program for which extensive preparations are underway at various ISRO centers and is set to launch between 2024-2025.
